After careful evaluation of the First Stage video recordings and analysis of performances, the Jury members made the decision upon the admittance of the candidates to the Second Stage of the 50th IJMC Belgrade.
There were 20 candidates from 13 countries worldwide participating in the First Stage. All candidates performed chosen Bach's Cello Suites. Other pieces included mostly different Piatti's Caprices and Sonatas by candidates' choice - where Cassado's Suite, as well as Ligeti and Kodály's Sonatas, prevailed. Not an easy task was laid before the Jury members, as all candidates showed a high level of musicianship and mostly nuances decided.
The Jury members and the Competition Board wish to thank all the candidates taking participation in the 50th IJMC Belgrade, and are assured that successful careers are laid before all of them, regardless of their final ranking in this years' edition of this Competition.
The Second Stage of the 50th IJMC will be held in the same form as the First, considering the rise of the Covid crisis in Serbia. The deadline for sending the Second Stage video recordings is October 31st, and the results should be announced on November 15th.
