Christina Bensi

Christina Bensi started playing cello at the age of 5 having her father as a teacher. She began her studies at the Municipal Conservatory of Argyroupoli where she took part in the
conservatory’s orchestra and then at the Halkidonio Conservatory.

At the age of 11, she was admitted to the Filippos Nakas Conservatory and continued her studies with Professor Marina Kislitsina. At the age of 16, she took her Diploma in cello with a grade
unanimously Excellent and 1st prize.

She has taken part in September 2015 at the International competition “The Muse” in Santorini, Greece, obtaining the 2nd prize and the title of Laureate, in October in Athens at the “Filonas“competition obtaining the 1st prize and at Filippos Nakas Conservatory winning the YAMAHA Foundation of Europe scholarship for the season 2015-2016.

She has taken part in National and international masterclasses in Lefkada (Greece) with Dimitris Patras, in Athens with Dimitris Toufexis “the soloist view of the orchestra“ performing the J. Haydn D major concerto, in Rome with Antonio Meneses, in Austria (ISA) with Ksenija Janković, Christoph Richter, Romain Garioud, in Manchester (UK) with Raphael Wolfish and in Lithuania with Nicholas Jones.

Since 2013 she was a member of Camerata Junior Orchestra where she was the principal cellist and with which she has appeared several times as a soloist.

During 2017-2018 and 2018-2019, she studied at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester (UK) with Professor Nicholas Jones obtaining both the MDS State and the board of Chetham’s Music School scholarship. In 2017 she played with the CSO (Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra) at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, gave chamber music concerts, and sang with the Chetham’s Choir at the Manchester’s Cathedral. In 2018 she took part in the concert at the RNCM (Royal Northern College of Music) and at a concert at the Grapenhall Cathedral. In summer 2018 she played at a concert in Baden Austria at Beethoven’s summer residence. In December she played at Northern Lights concert at Stoller Hall, at a lunchtime concert at St James Picadilly, at a concert in London with a Baroque ensemble, and a chamber music concert in Manchester.

In 2019 she graduated from Cheetham’s School of Music and took part in CSO final concert at the Bridgewater Hall playing Mahler’s 8th symphony broadcasted on BBC Radio 3. In March 2019 she took part in the 1rst “Tassos Pappas” competition at Thessaloniki (Greece) and won the 1st prize.

Since September 2019 she is studying at the Hochschule für Music Detmold with Professor Ksenija Janković.
