Joël Geniet

Born in 2002, Joël Geniet already has an exceptional musical training course. He started playing the cello at the age of 4 and was crowned with success at the Conservatoire Régional de Montpellier with high honors unanimously and honors from the jury in 2017.

In 2019, he was admitted to a Bachelor in Antonio Meneses’s class at the Hochschule in Bern. Joël distinguished himself with four grand prizes. He was chosen as soloist with the Paul Valéry University Orchestra and the Montpellier CRR, as cellist of the string quintet for Isabelle Chauvalon's Veni Creator.

Joël played with the Orchester National de Montpellier which he even conducted for an encore. Joël has participated in many academies including that of Marc Coppey. Chosen by Raphaël Pidoux as laureate of the "Talents & Violoncelles" foundation, Joël benefited in 2018 from the loan of a cello from luthier Frédéric Chaudière. He now plays a cello by Ersen Aycan, luthier in Freiburg.
