Vuk Ovaskainen wins a special award for the best performance of ''Serbian Round Dance''
Vuk Simon Ovaskainen, a young Finnish-Serbian cellist from Belgrade, won a special award for the best performance of the compulsory piece ''Serbian Round Dance'' by famous Serbian composer Aleksandar Vujić.
The decision was not an easy call as there were quite a few among the 13 candidates in the Second stage of the 50th IJMC that carried the piece to the taste of the Jury members, though Vuk's exceptional performance stood out, and the prize was well deserved. The Jury members and Competition Board congratulate Vuk and wish him luck in the Final stage of the 50th IJMC Belgrade, which will be held next year in March.
Vuk will perform Shostakovich's Cello Concerto No. 2 in the Final stage of the Competition and you can read more about the development and past experience of this marvelous young cellist here.
